M. Dallas H. Ross
Mr. Ross is a partner and founder of Kinetic Capital Partners in Vancouver, BC whose equity capital and strategic attention is focused on a few core private investee companies in the US but with global applicability for their product offerings. The investees offer strong management, proprietary technology or market position and high margins and operate in large, attractive markets with high growth rates. The investees offer shareholder value creation that is substantial and seen to be durable.
Mr. Ross is also active in a number of public companies. He is Chair of the Board and Chair of the Human Resource Committee of Rogers Sugar Ltd. He is Chair of the Board of Lantic Sugar Inc. Previously he was Chair of the Audit Committee for each of Rogers Sugar Ltd. and Lantic Sugar Inc. He is a member of the Board and Chief Financial Officer of Westshore Terminals Investment Corporation and a member of the Board of Westshore Terminals Ltd. Mr. Ross was a member of the Board, member of the Audit Committee, member of the Comp Committee and Chair of the Strategic Alternatives Committee of Catalyst Paper Corporation in order to assist with its substantial debt restructuring from 2010-2013. Earlier, Mr. Ross was also on the Board of futureshop.com.
He was on the Board, was Chair of the Campus Task Force and on various key committees of Crofton House School in Vancouver, BC from 2006-2013. Mr. Ross was a key part of the team that drove the strategy and execution for the significantly improved economic scale of the school, it's very successful and large fundraising and on time, on budget campus rebuild.
Prior to Kinetic Capital Partners, Mr. Ross was Managing Director, Investment Banking at Scotia Capital and, prior to that, Managing Director, Mergers & Acquisitions with ScotiaMcLeod.
Mr. Barker is a partner and founder of Kinetic Capital Partners and previously was Vice-President of Finance for Bartrac Investments Ltd. from 1986. He assisted Bartrac in divesting its Finning holding and has since developed and executed a long-range strategic plan to diversify Bartrac's corporate investments. During his tenure, the assets under his direction have grown at an annual compound rate of approximately 20%.
From 1998 to 2000, Mr. Barker was acting Chairman and CEO of Canlan Ice Sports Corp., where he re-configured operations by spinning off non-core assets, changing management and restructuring the Company's finances.
Mr. Barker was an active director of Whistler Mountain Ski Corporation from 1988 to 1997 where he worked with his partners to replace senior management, implement an extensive capital expenditure program and negotiate its ultimate sale in 1997 at a considerable profit.
Mr. Barker was a Director of Courage Energy Inc. from 1996 to 2001 when the company was taken private in a transaction that netted a five-fold return on capital for its shareholders.
